The reach of the CCG stretches from Stowmarket to Aldeburgh, includes Ipswich and the major port town of Felixstowe.

Ipswich and East Suffolk is a healthy area compared to other parts of the country, with an average life expectancy of 83.4 years for women and 79.4 years for men.  However, health inequalities do exist, with a lower level of  life expectancy in deprived areas. Importantly, it should be recognised that health inequalities exist in urban and rural areas of Suffolk.

The number of older people in Suffolk is projected to increase dramatically and the next twenty years will see a doubling of those aged 85 and over.

Ipswich and East Suffolk has a diverse population, with Ipswich estimated to have a black and minority ethnic community (BME) of 11% and east Suffolk a 7% BME community.
