Students across Suffolk invited to earn while they learn

Clinicians at Home First, a service that aims to support people to live at home and enjoy their independence for as long as possible, are writing to student nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists to ask if they would like to gain flexible, paid work.
They are looking for individuals studying in the county to join its staff bank to work as healthcare assistant/care support worker to provide care to patients in community settings.
The work would typically involve visiting people in their own homes to assist with personal care.
Home First provides short term support when people have a sudden loss of independence or following a setback such as a fall and or following discharge from hospital.
The service comprises a multi-disciplinary team made up of reablement support workers, occupational therapists, social workers and Care Quality Commission registered managers.
The proactive approach to students is being co-ordinated by the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System.
Its Director of Workforce Amanda Lyes said: “Working through the bank is an excellent opportunity for students to gain industry experience within a care centred environment.
“Not only will it help you develop your skills, but it can also be a pathway into a rewarding career at a time that has never been so challenging.
“Home First will be as flexible as possible and will fit around your studies.
“In fact you do not need to have any care or clinical qualifications and our clinician teams would provide you with all of the training you would need for the role.
“Please do get in touch if you are interested in joining our system.”
Those students who provide a professional, caring and reliable service will have access to the following benefits:
• Competitive pay rates - £12.20ph, with a 20% enhancement on Sundays and bank holidays
• Flexible working to suit your lifestyle
• Support when you need it
• Automatically join the Suffolk County Council pension scheme
