The traffic light system is intended to provide guidance on the use of medicines across the interface between primary and secondary care. It provides a framework for defining where clinical and therefore prescribing responsibility should lie through categorisation of individual drugs. It is only advisory but is intended to clarify expectations of prescribing responsibility.
Further information on the traffic light of each drug including any supplementary information and relevant local guidance can be found on the Ipswich And East Suffolk and Ipswich hospital NHS trust online joint formulary
Please note the joint online formulary replaces the traffic light document which was previously found here.
