It’s not too late for vaccination – you really are very welcome

Sunday December 19 was a bumper day for COVID-19 vaccinations - with the largest-ever one day total of 19,836 – and those who are still to get protected are being reassured that it’s not too late to take up the offer of vaccination.

Whether it’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd dose for immunosuppressed or booster, across east and west Suffolk and north east Essex it’s been made as easy and convenient as possible to get vaccinated, and everyone eligible is being assured of a warm welcome.

There are almost 100 clinics listed on the www.sneevaccine.org.uk website where no appointment is needed, just turn up, and this website also offers a link for those who prefer to make a booked appointment – with many options on locations and times including local pharmacies, hospitals, GP surgeries and dedicated vaccination centres, with appointments to suit work and home commitments.

The website is also a great resource for accurate facts on the vaccine and vaccination. Anyone with questions or concerns which is making them hesitate on taking up the vaccination offer is encouraged to check it out, or speak to a trusted health professional by calling the local helpline on 0344 257 3961. The helpline staff will not judge you and will offer you information you can rely on.

Dr Ed Garratt, chief executive, Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System, said: “Yesterday was an incredible day, with almost 20,000 vaccinations administered across the patch, which is more than the total population of Stowmarket or Walton-on-the-Naze.

“Those attending yesterday weren’t just there to receive a booster. It was really pleasing to see a number of people receiving their 1st, 2nd dose or 3rd dose (for immunosuppressed people), as they were mindful of the sweeping spread of the Omicron variant and the very real risk it presents to individuals, their families and the wider community.

“There are many reasons why some people have not yet come forward. I want them to know it’s not too late.  In fact, it’s more important than ever to come forward. Please don’t risk your own health and that of others.

“We’re here for you and hope to see you soon.”
